Has anyone else noticed that it is hard to find a good vampire book these days? The problem seems to be that many vampire writers have crossed over into the romance genera, something which I would be fine with if their books were actually located in the Romance Section. They aren’t. The word vampire still seems to indicate horror even though their is nothing frightening within these books, and given how well they sell, something which really surprises me, they are given giant chunks of display space within the horror section, a section that is usually already the smallest section within the store, one which can’t even begin to adequately display the writing talent within the horror genera. That said one can still find quality vampire novels within the horror section, something which I plan on doing during the next several months and then posting reviews of them so that others know what is worth reading and what isn’t. As usual, I won’t post reviews of books I don’t like, just those that were worth my time and which I believe others should read, so if this section goes several days or even weeks without an update it is because I haven’t found a book worth a review. Also, if you are curious about reading the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley, let me just tell you that I still haven’t been able to find anything better even amongst the Anne Rice publications. Brian Lumley’s vampires are the type I enjoy reading about, ones who have lost all sense of humanity and only want two things: power and blood and will do whatever it takes to get them.
