they loved horror movies, and most of the time their answer involved the word I don’t know why I love horror movies . . . Of course there were those who tried to sound like professionals and gave these long winded explanations on why people love horror movies, the most bizarre one being because deep down inside we all want to be savage killers and love to see situations like that but are stable enough to allow our minds, not our bodies to experience the thrill of driving a knife into a persons’s back or gut or chest, or driving an ax into their brain, or severing a leg with a chainsaw, or ripping out a throat with our teeth. Answers like this always tick me off especially when they say that fans of horror movies are closet psychopaths who love mixing violence with sex and need horror movies to suppress their savage instincts. Why do people love horror movies? All morning I have been thinking about an answer to this question, one that would make visitors of this website go oh yeah, that makes sense but couldn’t come up with anything. Sure, I know why I love horror movies, but can’t really explain why people as a whole enjoy them. Thankfully I’m not alone.
